What you will likely see
With a bountiful ocean surrounding its shores, Alaska's North
Gulf Coast is a wildlife mecca. On your voyage you are likely
to encounter Humpback and possibly Grey whales, killer whales,
sea lions, porpoise, sea otters, and a wide variety of sea
birds. Birds commonly sighted in-season include bald eagles,
commorants, puffins, murres, scoders, a variety of gulls,
eiders and terns. More exotic Asian species are also
occasionally spotted. On the beaches are sandpipers, wimbrel,
plover, and dowitchers in season. Among the regions big-game
animals we also happen upon Sitka blacktail deer and black
bears wandering the driftwood beaches. Mountain goats are
occasionally spotted upon cliffs above rugged shoreline.
